herges detection enables explosives detection within seconds
herges detection GmbH, founded in 2020 as a spin-off from the University of Kiel, sells two different test strips that can detect various explosive substances based on peroxides, nitrates, and chlorates within seconds. The test is already being used by the Schleswig-Holstein Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service. International demand is also growing, for example from France, Great Britain, and South Korea.
Further development of the test strips' areas of application from 2026 onwards
The managing director of herges detection, RN Dr. Stefan Kloth: "In order to expand the scope of application and usability of our test strips, further prototypes are already being worked on. However, developing a new product involves high costs and many test runs before it is ready for market. We are therefore very pleased about the €100,000 grant and numerous contacts in other NATO countries, which will enable us to raise international awareness of our explosives test."
